Savory Air Fryer Bread Rolls with Italian Sausage Grillers

Cooking instruments: Air Fryer, cooking pot, pan, cutting board, bowl, plate, spatula;

Tip: for this kind of dish, you will want to use an air fryer with digital display and pre-heat option. That way, you will be able to bring it to the right temperature before you insert the food and adjust it with one-minute increments when necessarily. The bread rolls to drool for, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, with aromatic herbs and sweet Italian sausage grillers.   1. Remove the casing of the Italian sausages and set the filling aside.
  2. Wash the chilies and cut it lengthwise, on the cutting board, removing the seeds and chopping it finely, then set aside.
  3. Peel and wash the onions, then chop it finely.
  4. Wash the coriander and chop it finely, setting it aside when you’re done.
Heat up the herbs and spices:
  1. Put the pan on the stove with 1 teaspoon of oil. Let it get hot and throw in the mustard seeds.
  2. When you hear it sizzling, add the onion and stir with a spatula until it gets translucent.
  3. Season with the curry leaves, the chopped coriander and chilies, and the turmeric. Keep stirring for a few other seconds.
Mix the herbs with the filling:
  1. In the pan with the heated spices, add the mashed Italian sausage filling.
  2. Add salt to your taste and keep stirring until it blends properly.
  3. Set aside and let it cool down.
  4. When it’s cooled, make 8 portions of oval shape out of it and set on a plate.
Prepare the bread:
  1. Put the slices on the cutting board and cut off the edges.
  2. Soak it in a bowl with a bit of water.
  3. Press the bread with the palm to remove the excess water.
  4. Place each portion of sausage and spices filling on each soaked bread slice.
  5. Roll the bread to seal the stuffing inside, paying attention to the edges, to seal it properly.
  6. Set the stuffed bread rolls on the plate and drizzle some olive on top of it.
Cook the savory bread rolls with Italian sausage and herbs in the air fryer:
  1. Heat the air fryer for about 8 minutes at 390˚F (200˚C).
  2. Sprinkle a bit of oil inside the basket as well and set the bread rolls in.
  3. Let it bake for approximately 13 minutes.
  4. Take it out when it turns golden.
  5. Serve it with some homemade tomato ketchup or your favorite dip.

Try it with a twist:
We’ve tried it with several different ingredients and we can tell you that it works wonders with our Italian sausage stuffing. Of course, you’re also free to try the original recipes or, for some variation, stuff it with mozzarella and olives!
